That portion can't be accessed for 13/14 years? I ask as I'm prob 5 years behind you in terms of accumulation but I wouldn't consider myself FIRe until I have non pension assets to support my lifestyle. I guess that's nearer 9 years Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2875915890415125655.post-87195361248482437962016-08-14T10:10:32.631+01:002016-08-14T10:10:32.631+01:00I retired early in late 2007 with a mostly equity ...I retired early in late 2007 with a mostly equity portfolio, sums were similar to those quoted. Clearly 2008-2009 were not encouraging .....but I stuck with the equity heavy approach and 9 years in, assets have more than doubled, income has proved to be more than sufficient.
My approach has always been glass half full and I have never worried about the outcome, its OK ! Its not over until Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2875915890415125655.post-2588479026511154262016-08-10T19:48:16.696+01:002016-08-10T19:48:16.696+01:00No, they're not my figures. What's interesting is that the default is not far from the 4% rule which as you say goes to zero in some instances - 30 years, 4% per annum withdrawal increasing by inflation annually. The only difference is that it's a 75% Equity:25% Bonds portfolio and the 4% Rule is 50:50.

Reinforces why I'm going for 2.5% withdrawal particularly given RetirementInvestingTodayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03088383743670046657noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2875915890415125655.post-66410226755340924932016-08-10T11:20:34.608+01:002016-08-10T11:20:34.608+01:00http://www.cfiresim.com/

The platform I run this blog on, Blogger, gives me number of reads of each post and this post is only at about 25-33% of normal run rate. I hope it's just holidays and not that everybody no longer finds my musing/ramblings of interest. As for why so few comments in relation to reads. I don't know, maybe not relevant as you suggest.
